Not all knee pain has the same cause
The most common type of knee pain is called "anterior knee pain" - sometimes referred to as "runner's or jumper's knee". Symptoms will most likely include a generalized ache in the front of one or both of the knees, pain with going up or down stairs, and pain with running or jumping. There may also be pain with sitting with the knees bent to 90 degrees for long periods (i.e. going to the movies).
What is the cause of runners knee pain?
Usually the cause is related to running technique and poor biomechanics. It is often due to weakness around the pelvis, poor core stability and tightness in the hamstrings.
