Specialisation: Knee Rehabilitation & Lower Limb Biomechanics
Brad founded the practice in 2007 with the vision of creating Sydney’s most technologically advanced clinic run by a team of skilled, senior physiotherapists who specialize in certain aspects of rehabilitation. This specialization, and SSOP’s commitment to providing the best in all aspects of the rehabilitation experience, has seen it grow into the high-class facility it is today.
A knee and lower limb rehabilitation specialist, Brad’s interest in the treatment and management of knee conditions grew from dealing with his own knee problems during his career as a tennis player. After deciding the glamorous lifestyle of a top-20 tennis player was slightly out of reach, Brad completed his Masters training and worked for five years with a world-renowned knee physiotherapist. He then went on to complete a doctorate at the University of Saint Augustine, focusing on the causative factors contributing to anterior knee pain syndrome. Brad and the entire SSOP team are now involved in a collaborative research study with the Sydney Orthopaedic Research Institute, which examines the treatment of anterior knee pain. With a focus on the management of sports or exercise-related injury, Brad is also a strength and conditioning specialist. A certification available to degree-qualified exercise scientists, this demonstrates a proficiency in testing and prescribing exercise programs for professional or recreational athletes.
To this end, Brad is also a member of Sports Medicine Australia, a multi-disciplinary group of rehabilitation professionals that includes physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, podiatrists, dieticians and sports doctors, among other members of the health industry. Members are required to maintain the standard of cutting-edge injury management, while the organization has a particular emphasis on sports and exercise-related injuries. Link to http://sma.org.au
Brad’s favourite subject in high school was physics. Yes, he is a bit of a nerd!
